A person reads every message. Replies usually come within one working day and always within two. There is no phone line and no chat widget: both would be answered by the same two people, more slowly.
What to include
The two things that make a reply useful on the first attempt are the email address on your account, if the question touches access or billing, and the town the question is about, if it touches a report. A screenshot of the figure you are querying is better than a description of it: reports are regenerated monthly, so the number you are looking at may not be the number we generate today.
Reports and access
One report costs £39 and stays open for 90 days. All the reports together cost £249 and stay open for a year. Neither renews. If a payment has gone through and the reports are still locked, send the email address on the account and we will look at the entitlement record directly. You do not need to pay again to fix it.
If the report you want is not in the library yet, say which town. The library lists only reports that exist rather than every ranked place, so an absence is a real one and worth telling us about.
Questions about a figure
Every number in a report is measured from a named public source, and we would rather explain one than have it taken on trust. If a median price, a yield, a crime rate or a flood share looks wrong for a place you know, tell us the town and the figure and we will trace it back through the pipeline. Corrections that hold up get made.
Where the data comes from covers the main sources and the windows they are measured over, which answers a good share of these questions before you have to ask.
Your data
Requests to see, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you come to the same address. What we hold and why is set out in the privacy policy, which is written against what the code actually stores rather than from a template.
Press, partnerships and licensing
For use of our figures in something you are publishing, or for access to the underlying district-level data, write with what you need and the deadline you are working to. Note that much of what sits behind the reports is public sector information under the Open Government Licence and is yours to use directly, and we are happy to point you at the original release.
What we cannot help with
Clarity publishes research, not financial advice, so we cannot tell you whether a particular purchase is right for you, recommend a lender or a broker, or advise on your tax position. Questions of that kind need a regulated adviser, and we will say so rather than answer them.
We also do not sell, source or manage property, and we hold no relationship with any agent or developer whose stock appears in a report. Our commercial relationships page is where that would change first.
